MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) est un standard de communication série pour relier des instruments de musique. Les prises standards sont des fiches DIN 5 broches à 180°. Cependant, il existe des adapteurs MIDI --> USB. Il existe des nombreux logiciels commerciaux, gratuits et open-sources pour Windows, MacOS et Linux pour synthétiser des sons à partir du MIDI.
