Free & open source, high-performance, distributed memory object caching system, generic in nature, but intended for use in speeding up dynamic web applications by alleviating database load.
Installation
wget http://memcached.org/latest tar -zxvf memcached-1.x.x.tar.gz cd memcached-1.x.x ./configure && make && make test && sudo make install
Play with telnet
$ telnet localhost 11211 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. get foo VALUE foo 0 2 hi END stats STAT pid 8861 (etc)
